TEHRAN (IQNA) – There are features that distinguish the educational ways of divine prophets.

Developing habits

According to the Holy Quran, Prophet Abraham (AS) made a lot of efforts to change some improper habits of his people and replace them with good habits and the method he used is interesting.

Creating and changing habits are educational methods that can play a major role on man’s path to salvation.

Habits are behaviors that are shaped as a result of repetition and one does not need to think and reflect when doing them.

Habits can be regarded as one of the best means that can help one’s education and growth. It helps one abandon activities that ae not useful and instead spend his time on useful things.

Prophet Abraham (AS) was one of the divine messengers of God who tried to change his people’s bad habits and help them develop good habits.

1- Changing the habit of idol worshipping

The idol worshipping of Abraham’s people had no justifiable reason and they only repeated an unjustified action. Usually, people who imitate others have no deep knowledge about their beliefs and cannot rationally defend them. According to the Quran, Abraham faced such people. When he rejected their and their fathers’ idol worshipping, they said: “Have you brought the Truth or are you joking?” (Verse 55 of Surah Al-Anbiya)

2- Developing Habit of Doing Good Deeds

“We appointed them as leaders to guide the people through Our command and sent them revelation to strive for good deeds, worship their Lord, and pay religious tax. Both of them were Our worshipping servants.” (Verse 73 of Surah Al-Anbiya)

In this verse, the phrase “worshipping servants” has been used to describe Abraham (AS) and Is’haq (AS). The Arabic word for “worshipping servants” points to a habit that has been created as a result of repetition.
